In March 2012, she had a bowel operation for cancer, performed by Mr Marzouk and his team, which was a success.

After another week in cheerful sparrows, she came home and in less than a week she had to go back for another operation.
When she was in the Birchington Ward, Rita had 3 major operations, in 3 weeks.
In July 2012, she started Chemotherapy in the day unit until July 2013 and in the time she was in there, she had excellent care.
In 2016, she had an operation for breast cancer which was at QEQM performed by Miss Sharp and her team.
