Joseph Kim Obituary

Joseph H. Kim, 83, of 146 Sugar Hill Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Friday, July 11, 2025 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
He was born August 23, 1941, in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph H. and Beatrice Gregory Kim. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1959. Joe spent time in a monastery in Niagara Falls, Canada considering joining the Carmelite Brotherhood. Upon returning to the St. Marys area in the early 1960's, Joe worked at B&R Electric, the borough of St. Marys Police Department, U.S. Army Reserve Btry C 4/8th where he reached the rank of First Sergeant, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Deposit Bank, Knights of Columbus Insurance, the Sugar Hill Dairy Farm, and Queen of the World finance office. He was a member of the Queen of the World Church and served in the US. Army Reserves for 14 years.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Holland (Fred) of Wadmalaw Island, SC; his brothers, George Kim (Mary Kay) of Gainesville, GA and Martin (Kimberly) Kim of St. Marys; and by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews whom he doted over.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Kim.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.
Joe's family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing staff of Elk Haven Nursing Home and to Fr. Jeff of Queen of the World for their care during Joe's time at Elk Haven.
