It came as a great shock to discover two yrs down the line that Fay had passed away. We briefly met up with her 6 yrs ago after reading an article in the Guardian titled Memories of my mother are fading about Prince Harry written by Fay Schopen and we recognized the name immediately! We had shared a house back in the 70s with her Mother in Eastbourne. Fay was born while we were there then Jane and Fay moved back home to Oxford. We managed to contact Fay through the article, met up, shared memories and then re met in Whitstable whilst visiting family. It was so nice to meet with her and learn her story as we had always wondered what had happened to her. We are deeply saddened to hear she was also taken so young like Her Mum but what a brilliant writer she had grown to be, so talented. We hope that her husband and daughter will be able to move on and look back with happy memories. Please accept our deepest sympathies. Jan and Ron Taylor

Fay touched so many people and was a beautiful person, inside and out. The journalism world has lost a great talent; her writing was incredible.

Lots of Love from Lucy xx

Fay, Loved knowing you and moaning with you about cancer online. I am so sorry it took you so young and especially for your 5 year old daughter whom I know you loved very much. Lots of love Justine and Floof the cat.

Fay was an incredible support to other women with cancer, who appreciated her for her wit, honesty, vitality and kindness. Whatever she faced she did it with grace and style, and her fierce and funny spirit shone through. Fay, sometime, somewhere we will have that walk on the beach. Much love, Kara

Only got to know Fay online as a fellow cancer-sufferer but even so it was clear what an amazing woman she was. A fantastic wordsmith, her wit and gallows humour entertained us even during the darkest times. She clearly loved her little girl so much. I am so incredibly sorry that Fay will not be around to see her grow up.
