You certainly left this world a better place than when you came. Knowing that life is fragile makes you want to appreciate meaningful things. There is not enough time in this life to waste it on trivia. Every day is a gift. But you realise that even more when you've been on a difficult journey. Ernie faced up to Cancer with a level of bravery and humour that was completely extraordinary. His fight was courageous, tenacious and utterly bereft of self pity. You deserve respect and admiration for the way you dealt with your long illness, which must have been a terrible ordeal. You were the most positive person I ever knew.
